All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Kirti Azad on Thursday unveiled adhoc core committees of the party and also announced that full-fledged State, district and taluka level office bearers will be announced within the next 100 days.
Mr Azad, who was flanked by Rajya Sabha MP Luizinho Faleiro and local leader Rajendra Kakodkar, claimed the party is getting an enthusiastic response from people in Goa who want to join the party.
The Mamata Banerjee-led TMC which made a high-decibel foray in Goa by contesting the recent Goa legislative assembly elections in alliance with the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) drew a blank but three of its candidates -- Churchill Alemao, his daughter Valanka Alemao and Kavita Kandolkar -- finished runners up in their respective Benaulim, Navelim and Tivim constituencies.
However, since the results were declared, several of its high-profile leaders, including the Alemaos and the Kandolkars have either quit or distanced themselves from the party.
Former minister Kiran Kandolkar quit as State president of the party and also from the primary membership as did his wife Kavita.
Meanwhile, Azad said TMC is thankful for the support shown by the people indicative of the more than 5 per cent vote share garnered by the party in its first election with just 3-5 months of entering the fray.
He said comparatively, both the principal parties in Goa -- the BJP and the Congress -- took three elections to garner any foothold in Goa.
He said it is indicative that the people of Goa believe the TMC is capable of delivering the goods and that the party will stay in the long haul.
