PANAJI
Two people, including a pedestrian, were injured in a bizarre accident on Tuesday morning after an allegedly drunk Nepal-origin driver reversed his car onto a footpath near Panaji market.
CCTV footage showed the incident around 7.45 am, when the driver first rammed into parked two-wheelers. As bystanders confronted him, he attempted to reverse the car and hit a pedestrian standing outside a restaurant.
Police said the driver, who appeared intoxicated, then lost control again and crashed into the same pedestrian, leaving him seriously injured. The victim was pinned between the car and a shop shutter.
The driver is reportedly employed at a spa, also located in the market. The injured man was taken to the hospital, while the driver was detained for the offence and sent for medical examination.
