Minister for Water Resources Subhash Shirodkar has announced that a direct pipeline from Tillari Dam to Goa is not feasible.

However, the State government has commenced work on a new water pipeline from Amthane Dam to Calangute.

“We cannot get a direct pipeline from Tillari Dam to Goa. But from Amthane Dam, we are laying a direct pipeline up to Calangute constituency. The work on this project has already started,” Shirodkar said.

Additionally, two new water treatment plants are under development to enhance water supply in the State.

A 5 million liters per day (MLD) capacity plant is being set up in Siolim, while a larger 20 MLD plant is coming up in Pilerne.

“The Siolim treatment plant will be commissioned soon, but the Pilerne plant will take a little more time,” the minister added.

These initiatives aim to improve water availability and address supply issues in North Goa.
