Episcopal Ordination of Bishop-Elect
PANAJI
The Archdiocese of Goa and Daman will celebrate the Episcopal Ordination of Bishop-elect Rev. Simião Purificação Fernandes at Sé Catedral, Old Goa, on June 17 beginning at 3.30 pm.
Around 15 Bishops, besides a number of Government officials and bureaucrats, are expected for the event, which has been described as an “ecclesial event” of a special significance to the Church in the Archdiocese.
In order to plan and organise the Episcopal Ordination, a committee has been constituted with the Laity, Religious and Priests of the Archdiocese.
It is also informed that to facilitate participation for the Episcopal Ordination, the offices at the Archbishop's house, Diocesan centres and Diocesan seminaries will remain closed on 17 th June.
ARRANGEMENTS
Arrangements have also been made to accommodate the faithful who have registered for the event through their Parishes.
Parking arrangements will be as follows: Priests will be able to park near the Pastoral Institute and in the area of Se Catedral (Entrance Gate 2 or 3).
Private cars may park in the compound of Basilica of Bom Jesus, two-wheelers in the area of Se Catedral, buses near Bhakia Bus Stand or Church property (buses are requested to place the name of their Parish on the bus).
People are requested to kindly cooperate with the traffic police and volunteers.
COMMITTEES
A number of committees have been formed for the organisation of the Episcopal Ordination of Bishop-elect Rev. Simião Purificação Fernandes.
The core committee comprises Fr Lucio Dias (Convenor), Fr Tony D’Souza, ofm, Fr Rosario Oliveira, Fr Alfredo Vas, Fr Afonso Mendonca, Fr Leo Fernandes, Fr Joaquim Fernandes, svd, Sr Flory Rodrigues, fmck, Deron Rodrigues, Gail Mesquita, Ninfa D’Silva, Jamice Cardozo and Russel da Cruz.
The Hospitality Sub-Committee consists of Deron Rodrigues, Ninfa D’Silva, Fr Leo Fernandes, Sr Justina Vaz, Yean Cardozo, Fr Maurice Colaco, Terryl Coutinho and Corina Soares e Fernandes.
The Liturgy Sub-Committee comprises Fr Afonso Mendonça (committee member), Fr Alfred Vaz (Committee member), Fr Tomas Lobo, Fr Mariano D’Costa, Sr Alexia Braz, Matthew de Souza and Ritik D’Souza
The Media Sub-Committee consists of Sr Flory Rodrigues Fmck, Fr Barry Cardozo, Merwyn Rodrigues, Bro. Malvino Alphonso OCD, Fr Elvis Fernandes SFX, Abhijeet Jadhav, Fr Alexio Menezes, Velma Fernandes, Beatto D’Mello, Fr Michael Pereiera SVD, Sr. Faria Baretto HC, Shamiro Diniz and Fr Joaquim Lobo SDB.
The Refreshments Sub-Committee comprises Gail Misquita, Jamice Cardozo, Fr Miguel Pereira, Ruth D'Cruz, Sr Wendy Sequeira, Chrisha Oliveira, Kallis Rodrigues, Celso Fernandes and Edward Crasto.
The Venue Sub-Committee consists of Fr Rosario Oliveira, Fr Joaquim Fernandes, SVD, Fr Seby Vaz, Mr Russel da Cruz; and Parishioners of See Cathedral, Old Goa.
