The Belagavi Journalists’ Association hosted its annual ‘Pratibha Puraskar’ program on Saturday, honouring 25 children of journalists for their achievements in SSLC, PUC, and various other fields. The event took place at the Shivakumar Sambaragimath Auditorium, S.G. Balekundri Institute of Technology, and was marked by a grand celebration.
KLE Executive President Prabhakar Kore inaugurated the program, highlighting the demanding nature of journalism and the importance of recognising the achievements of journalists’ children. “Children have always been my first priority. I am delighted to be part of this programme. Pay attention to your children and take care of your health, journalists are an integral part of society,” he said.
Belagavi North MLA Abhay Patil praised journalists for their role in the city’s growth and assured efforts to revive a proposal for a dedicated journalists’ colony. MLA Asif (Raju) Sait urged the awardees to work hard in their student life for a bright future, noting the global success of Indians in leading companies.
Mayor Mangesh Pawar, Deputy Mayor Vani Vilas Joshi, Belagavi City Police Commissioner Bhushan Borse, and Association President Vilas Joshi also addressed the gathering. The event featured a cultural musical performance by the women members of Chukki Cultural Academy.
Several association office-bearers and journalists were present to support and celebrate the young achievers.
