4 rescued, 2 missing children traced along State’ coastline

Drishti Marine lifesavers carried out multiple rescue and assistance operations along Goa’s coastline during the weekend, rescuing four persons and tracing two missing children at different beaches, officials said.

At Arambol beach, a 22-year-old man from Telangana began drowning after entering the sea in an intoxicated state with friends. Lifesavers Vishnu Kubal and Manoj Parab rushed to his aid using a surfboard and rescue tube, with support from a jet ski, and brought him safely ashore. His condition is stable.

At Mandrem beach, a mother and her 10-year-old son from Tamil Nadu were rescued after they were unable to return to shore while swimming. Lifesaver Dattaguru Korgankar, assisted by Sudhir Parab on a jet ski, safely rescued both. They were reported to be stable.

At Baga beach, lifesavers traced a missing five-year-old child from Pune after launching a quick search operation. The child was found at another location on the beach and reunited with the parents after due formalities.

At Calangute beach, a 39-year-old man from Bagalkot, Karnataka, sustained a leg injury after stepping on broken glass while wading in the water. He was given first aid and advised further medical treatment.

At Palolem beach, a 78-year-old tourist from the UK was rescued after being caught in a rip current. Lifesaver Dinesh Velip brought her safely ashore. Lifesavers also helped reunite a Mumbai tourist with his misplaced wallet and traced a missing three-year-old girl from Bengaluru within ten minutes, reuniting her with her family after identification checks.
