Allottees met the CMC Chief Officer.

A group of people who were allotted plots by the Goa Housing Board in 2004 visited the Cuncolim Municipal Council (CMC) on Tuesday, asking for an NOC for the file submitted by the Board. They approached the Civic body after learning that an objection had been filed against the proposed Housing Board colony at Panzorconne-Cuncolim.
Chief Officer Vimod Dalal heard the group and said the objection received by the CMC would be forwarded to the Goa Housing Board for action. He clarified that the land does not belong to the Municipal Council and was acquired by the Housing Board. “If anyone has objections to the colony or plot allotment, they will be sent to the Housing Board for necessary steps,” he said.
CMC Chairperson Landry Mascarenhas later said the Chief Officer would act strictly as per the law. The Housing Board colony had faced strong protests in 2005, with locals fearing that the project would bring outsiders into the village. Though the land was once believed to have been transferred to GSUDA, with a football academy proposed on the site, the plan never moved ahead. A recent High Court order directed the Housing Board to allot a plot to a petitioner, reviving the issue. Delegation members Soiru Komarpant and Gulab Desai said the CMC should issue the NOC so the Board can proceed.
