As the condition of Kala Academy remains unchanged, a group of angry artistes have united to demand a white paper and the resignation of Art & Culture Minister Govind Gaude if the iconic structure is not restored within 15 days.

"The government should submit a white paper giving details of the repairs conducted at the Kala Academy till date, along with all updates," the artistes said during their discussion in Panaji on Monday. They also demanded that Gaude step down from his position of the Academy if it is not restored within the given time.

The artistes also resolved to meet Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and Cultural Minister Govind Gaude expressing their grievances and seeking immediate restoration of the structure.

Gaude has remained silent on the artists' demand, although government sources stated they are taking the matter seriously.

The artists have called on their fraternity from various talukas to visit the Kala Academy and support those involved in the legal battle to save Kala Academy.

Around mid-May, amidst heavy pre-monsoon showers, the Dinanath Mangeshkar auditorium began to leak during a performance of the Konkani tiatr 'Girgirem'. While majority of key ruling legislators including CM were busy in the Lok Sabha poll campaign, the Opposition accused corruption and scam.
