A delegation under the ‘Gomata Samman Aahvaan Abhiyan’ on Monday submitted a memorandum to the Karnataka CM through the district administration in Belagavi, demanding an immediate halt to cow slaughter and stronger protection for indigenous cattle breeds.

The activists urged the government to ensure proper care and preservation of Vedalakshana Gomata (pure native cattle) and to recommend to the Centre that the cow be declared ‘Rajmata’ (Queen Mother). They also called for strict measures to curb cattle smuggling between Karnataka and Goa. The march, held in the morning, was organised under the guidance of campaign president Nandi Baba Vrushabh.

Speaking to the media, a religious seer said the campaign aims to ensure protection, care, and respect for cows across the country.

The delegation appealed to top leaders, terming the continuation of cow slaughter a “stain” on the nation, and demanded a complete ban and strict enforcement of laws.
