The Disability Rights Association of Goa (DRAG) has congratulated the successful SSC and HSSC students with special needs in the recently concluded exams.
DRAG has announced a felicitation programme for the top 5 students with special needs from Goa at SSC and HSSC level, along with their schools, from inclusive schools only, so as to promote inclusive education for children with special needs. The last date to apply is May 10.
In a statement, DRAG President Avelino de Sa said the association has written to Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to notify the revised scheme for children with special needs, which has been pending for more than 2 years, by May 30.
“The DRAG has also written to the Directorate of Education demanding that all schools and colleges be made accessible for students (with special needs) within 6 months or face legal action.”
“The DRAG has warned schools of de-recognition if they deny admission to children with special needs, as it is a blatant violation of the Rights of Persons with Disability Act 2016, the Goa Children’s Act 2005, and the Right to Education Act 2009. Parents can contact DRAG on Ph: 9326120903,” de Sa added.
