Court told no need for arrest; defence cites victim’s stance
MARGAO
Accused in the Curchorem sex scandal case, Soham Naik, has withdrawn his anticipatory bail application filed before the South Goa Sessions Court after the Goa Police submitted to the court that the accused is not wanted in the case.
Defence lawyer Adv Amay Prabhudesai told the media that the anticipatory bail plea has been withdrawn after the police made a categorical submission that his client will not be arrested in the case in question.
The accused had moved the South Goa Sessions Court with an anticipatory bail plea, fearing arrest by the police in an alleged sexual assault case.
Adv Prabhudesai, however, told the media that the victim in the instant case has made a submission that she does not want to lodge a complaint in the case.
“My humble plea to all concerned people is not to pressurise victims to unnecessarily file complaints before the police,” he added.
