Goa Forward chief Vijai Sardesai has stressed the need to properly train Booth Level Officers (BLOs) and familiarise them with documentation requirements to ensure that eligible voters are not inconvenienced by procedural confusion.

Sardesai visited the ITI Multipurpose Booth at Borda on Sunday, where the Election Commission of India (ECI) is conducting a special camp for voter enrolment and shifting of constituencies.

During the visit, he was informed that voters seeking to shift their voting constituency were being asked to wait for three months despite having all the required NOCs.

Sardesai stressed that BLOs must be properly trained and familiarised with the documentation requirements to ensure that eligible voters are not inconvenienced by procedural confusion.

He also demanded that another special camp be held next Sunday, after the BLOs receive the necessary training, so that voters can complete the process smoothly without unnecessary delays.

“I visited the centre after receiving complaints that the BLOs had not been provided proper training to conduct the exercise. I hope the election authorities take cognisance of the matter and do the needful,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Fatorda MLA also inspected the building near ITI Multipurpose at Borda, whose balcony collapsed in the early hours of Saturday. He promised to take up the matter with the authorities to address the grievances raised by local residents.
