Canacona’s Samiksha feted for Lok Sabha Konkani intepreter role

Isidore Fernandes congratulates Samiksha Velip and assured of any help required.

Ex-Deputy Speaker Isidore Fernandes congratulated and felicitated Samiksha Velip of Gaondongrim, Canacona, on her appointment as a Konkani Interpreter in the Lok Sabha.

“Samiksha Velip is the first person from Canacona to achieve this feat,” stated Isidore Fernandes after felicitating her at her residence in Gaondongrim.

Fernandes recalled Samiksha’s late father, Nagesh Velip, as one of his staunch supporters throughout his life and mentioned the close family bonds he shares with them.

Incidentally, Samiksha and her family became emotional on seeing the former Deputy Speaker, as his visit brought back memories of her late father. Samiksha recalled how her father would walk hand-in-hand and shoulder-to-shoulder with Fernandes, especially during election campaigns.

Becoming emotional himself, the former Deputy Speaker and ex-Canacona MLA assured Samiksha of any assistance she might need in pursuing her dream job in the national capital.

Accompanying Fernandes during his visit to Samiksha’s residence were CMC Councillor Shubham Komarpant, Gaondongrim Panch (Bhupar Ward) Sarita Velip, President of Mallikarjun Devasthan (Gaondongrim) Dudu Velip, President of Konkani Seva Kendra (Canacona) Suraj Komarpant, and Sunay Komarpant.

It may be recalled that Samiksha Velip and Gauri Mavlinkar are the two Goan women appointed as Konkani Interpreters in the Lok Sabha after clearing the Consultant Interpreters Empanelment Test.
