South Goa district Collector, Ruchika Katyal, IAS on Saturday issued an order under section 144 of the Cr PC shutting down a number of activities, including educational institutions and sports complexes, besides bars from May 9-24.
However, a number of exceptions have been made in the order, allowing shops selling medicines/drugs and related activities, and shops selling groceries/eatables, animal fodder, public distribution system and such outlets, standalone liquor shops (for takeaways only) as these will remain open from 7 am to 1 pm (home delivery of all these items, except liquor, will be allowed anytime).
As per the order, the Collector has shut down activities such as casinos, bars, restaurants, (however restaurant kitchens will be allowed to provide home delivery/takeaways), shops, sports complex/auditoriums/community halls or similar places, river cruises/waterparks/entertainment parks, gym/spa/massage parlours/saloon, cinema halls, theatres, multiplexes, entertainment zones within Shopping malls. swimming pool, schools, colleges, educational and coaching institutions, except for examinations of college students.
Religious places for the public will remain closed. However, the custodian of these religious institutions may carry out regular activities.
