The gram sabha of the village panchayat of Dramapur on Sunday discussed a host of issues, including the issue of conversion of low lying fields in the river Sal catchment area.
The meeting chaired by Sarpanch Avita Pereira saw members expressing their concerns over reports that low lying catchment areas are being converted into settlement.
Velim MLA Cruz Silva promised that he would raise the issue in the forthcoming session of the Goa Legislative Assembly.
In fact, the members resolved to ask the government to effect correction in the Regional plan in order to restore the fields to the original condition.
The issues of MRF, besides electricity issues plaguing the village were discussed at the meeting.
