OLD GOA
Continuing with its initiative to make inroads into opposition-ruled constituencies, Goa Forward opened its office in St Cruz on Sunday, with a larger focus in constituencies of Tiswadi taluka.
Ten panchas of the 11-member Chimbel panchayat - 7 from the ruling panel and 3 from the opposition- also joined Goa Forward on the occasion.
Chimbel Sarpanch Chandrakant Kunkolkar and Dy Sarpanch Manisha Chopdekar were among those who joined GFP.
Speaking after the inaugural, GF president and TCP Minister Vijay Sardessai said the office was opened on the auspicious occasion on the eve of St Francis Xavier's feast and also on Dattajayanti, and hoped that under the leadership of Babush Monserratte people will get justice on behalf of Goa Forward.
"We will work for the development of the areas of the elected leaders who have joined the party. We will also concentrate on development activities in other constituencies of Tiswadi taluka as well," Sardessai informed while stating that the aim is to make Goa Forward a formidable force in entire Tiswadi in the next Assembly election.
"Goa Forward has become a voice for people of all communities and age groups. We want to save Goemkarponn and our political stand is to foster brotherhood among Goemkars," he informed.
Fisheries Minister Vinod Palyekar, former St Cruz MLA Victor Gonsalves, GFP office bearers and a large number of supporters were present at the inaugural.

I will keep working for the betterment of my constituency: Tony
OLD GOA: St Cruz MLA Tony Fernandes was unperturbed by the opening of the GFP's office in St Cruz.
Speaking to The Goan, Fernandes informed that anybody who wants to work for the development of St Cruz is welcome. "Already, the MGP is having its office as also the BJP and I never had problems," he added while reacting to the development.
"I am a thick friend of Babush Monserrate. There are no differences among us. The only difference is that he belongs to GFP while I belong to Congress party," he added.
When questioned whether GF's entry in St Cruz would affect his chances in the next Assembly elections, Fernandes replied, "If my destiny is to get elected for a second time, then it will come true. Right now, my priority is to keep the promises I made to the people.
"And to fulfill the promises, if I have got to take the help of BJP, GFP or any other party, I will do it. My job is to work and I will keep working for the betterment of my constituency," he added.

Monserrate back in St Cruz, promises development
OLD GOA
Former St Cruz MLA Babush Monserrate returned to the constituency after formally inaugurating GFP's office in St Cruz and is promising development of the constituency.
When asked how he would bring development in St Cruz, Monserrate informed that development would be ushered here as Goa Forward is part of the government.
On his failure to develop St Cruz as MLA, Monserrate informed that no development was allowed to take place in opposition constituencies by the earlier government, due to which not much development occurred. "I have come back because I had promised the people of St Cruz that I would be there for them through thick and thin and I want to assure them that I have not abandoned them," he added.
When asked whether it would not undermine the current MLA's power, Monserrate said, "We are friends. I believe as far as development is concerned, anybody can undertake the same. When I was Taleigao MLA, I never objected to anyone undertaking development in that constituency," while adding that his entry in St Cruz should not be seen as a threat by anyone.
