Traffic between Goa and Belagavi was disrupted in the wee hours of Tuesday, following a landslide at the Chorla Ghat.
Amid heavy rains over the past few days, there is a fear of further landslides in the area.
According to reports, a landslide occurred in the Goa section of the Ghat at about 4 am, bringing traffic between Goa and Belagavi to a standstill.
The PWD then engaged a contractor to clear the landslide, and traffic was partially restored at about 5.30 am. The landslide was cleared by Tuesday afternoon, and the traffic was fully restored along the route.
Mindful that continuous rains in the area could cause further landslides, the PWD has appealed to motorists to maintain caution while proceeding on the road.
Meanwhile, Sattari Deputy Collector Laxmikant Kurtikar informed that he is closely monitoring the situation to ensure the safety of motorists along the route.
