GSIDC scraps Rawanfond bridge tender

MARGAO

Madgavkars in particular and Saxttikars will have to wait for some more time for the proposed four-lane Rawanfond bridge to see light of the day.

For, the tender floated by the GSIDC has gone begging, but for a different reason. While the GSIDC has proposed to build the new bridge at Rs 32 crore, a bidder is reported to have bid for a whopping Rs 39 crore, around Rs seven crore more than the tendered amount.

Given the situation, the GSIDC is believed to have scrapped the tender and has now decided to float a new one after obtaining administrative approval for the project.

GSIDC General manager, Jude Carvalho said the bid submitted by the bidder was found on a higher side, leaving the agency with no option but to scrap the tender.

“The agency tried to negotiate with the bidder to reduce the amount, but since there was no response, the tender has been scrapped," he said.

Carvalho said the GSIDC will have to start the process all over again by seeking administrative approval from the government.
