PANJIM: A new health insurance scheme of the State government, is in the last stage of finalisation, and would be implemented soon, Deputy Chief Minister Francis D’Souza, said on Sunday.
D’Souza, who is also the State health minister, told reporters after the Yoga Day celebrations that the The Deen Dayal Swasthya SevaYojana scheme should be ready for implementation before the monsoon session of the Goa Legislative Assembly.
Asked for the reasons for the delay, D’Souza replied, “It is not an easy task once the scheme is ready the identification process needs to be completed which would cover all of Goa.”
According to information all of Goa would be covered except the serving government employees and their dependents.
The scheme will provide Rs 2.50 lakh annual health insurance cover to a family of three members, and Rs 4 lakh annual health insurance cover to a family having four members.
Officials in the department also said that Goa Electronics Ltd would conduct camps for registration of beneficiaries with nominal fees of Rs 200 and Rs 300 for a family of three and four respectively.
Initially, officials said, the Goa Medical College, both the District Hospitals and sub District Hospital at Ponda will be empaneled besides the private hospitals meeting the exquisite infrastructure.
