PANAJI : The road stretch from Bal Bhavan till Caculo Mall was abruptly closed by the Imagine Panaji Smart City Development Limited (IPSCDL) leading to traffic chaos in the morning. The road stretch from the mall to the Sewage Treatment Plant at Tonca has already been closed and excavated for sewerage works.
This closure, reportedly part of the final phase of the sewerage project, includes the installation of one-meter diameter pipe.
However, the sudden closure left many commuters and pedestrians frustrated as there was no prior intimation to the public.
With no alternative routines, the motorists were compelled to take a much longer route towards Miramar and further interiors to reach their destinations in the city.
The IPSCDL has so far failed to give clarity on the completion of works even though its earlier deadline is set on May 31.
Most parts of Panaji continue to be excavated and closed while other patches covered with mud have been washed away in the pre-monsoon rains.
The road stretch between Taj Vivanta Junction at St Inez and the PWD office at Tonca are not fully opened as IPSCDL assured for Tuesday night. The works are still ongoing further leading to chaos.
