JERC seeks public inputs on GED’s 2020-22 fiscal numbers

PANAJI

The Joint Electricity Regulatory Commission (JERC) has sought inputs from the public on the financials of the Goa Electricity Department (GED) filed before it pertaining to the financial years 2020-21 and 2021-22 to authenticate it which in turn will have a bearing on the finalisation of the power tariff plans for the next financial year.

The GED has filed the petition before the JERC for “Truing up” and approval which the latter has admitted and opened for deliberation.

A notice issued by the GED has called for objections, suggestions and comments from members of the public on its financials before June 10.

On receiving these inputs, the JERC will hold a public hearing which it will announce giving a schedule and the venue.

It may be recalled that in February this year, the JERC had held a public hearing on the GED’s proposal to hike multi-year power tariffs from April 1 but the plan was seemingly shelved after several stakeholders, including leaders from Opposition parties picked holes in the financial performace and reporting of the department.
