As talk about his possible cabinet induction resurfaced after his meeting with Home Minister Amit Shah, Calangute BJP MLA Michael Lobo said the meeting was “long overdue”.

Speaking to the media, Lobo said they discussed the political roadmap for Goa.

He mentioned that Shah had invited him nearly six months ago, and the meeting finally took place with a short but focused discussion. Lobo emphasised his unconditional commitment to the BJP and said he is proud to be in a party where national leaders closely watch even small states like Goa.

“Amit Shah had asked me to meet him nearly six months ago. We finally met and spoke for about 15 minutes. He is keeping a sharp eye on Goa and is regularly updated on everything happening here,” Lobo said.

“His sharpness on the political developments across India, is the reason why he is called a true Political Guru,” he added.

When asked about any assurance of responsibilities or a return to the cabinet, Lobo said no such promise was made. “It is for the party to decide. At the right time, the national leadership, the CM, and the state president will take the call,” he said.

He also said that while there is one vacant cabinet berth, any decision to fill it will be taken by the top leadership.

Lobo repeated that he joined the BJP unconditionally. “It’s reassuring to know that leaders like Amit Shah are watching even the smallest state like Goa with such attention,” he said.
