Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders have demanded full and immediate financial compensation for the family of two brothers - Rajendra Gaonkar (40) and Mohandas Gaonkar (46), who lost their lives in an electrocution incident at Rivona on August 27.

On Saturday, AAP Velim MLA Engr Cruz Silva visited the grieving family at their residence in Rivona, accompanied by other party leaders.

Among those present were AAP Goa Vice President Engr Roque Mascarenhas, AAP Joint Secretary Prashant Naik, AAP ST Wing Vice President Vinay Velip and party volunteers.

The AAP delegation met the mother and relatives of the deceased, expressing deep sorrow at the tragic loss. Leaders conveyed their condolences and assured the family that the party would stand firmly with them during this difficult time.

Speaking after the visit, the leaders stressed the urgent need for the government to not only provide adequate compensation but also to fast-track the process so that the family is not left waiting for relief.

They also underlined the importance of preventive measures and better safety protocols to ensure that such accidents do not claim more lives in the future.

“This tragedy has left a family devastated. It is the duty of the government to extend immediate support. Compensation and safety reforms must go hand in hand,” Cruz Silva said.

AAP reiterated its commitment to fight for the rights of the Gaonkar family and to press the authorities to take necessary steps. The party emphasised that justice should not be delayed and called for strict accountability in cases where negligence leads to the loss of lives.
