Message of Oppn unity echoes from Yuri’s birthday celebration

Leaders of Opposition parties hold hands in unison as they pledge to unitedly bring a political change in Goa.

The mega birthday celebrations of Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao on Sunday turned into a rallying point for the Opposition parties even as Yuri sounded “Navi Survaat” for Goa with an impassioned plea to the people of Goa to unite.

Leaders of Congress, Goa Forward Party and Revolutionary Goans Party joined hands at the birthday platform, sending a message loud and clear to the people of Goa that they will together usher a change.

In his address, the Opposition Leader called upon the people to make a new beginning and rebuild Goa.

“For me Goa is first. There is need to unite and win Goa. New and clean politics should come in Goa. All Opposition parties should think over this. I am confident that this will give sleepless nights to BJP,” he said.

He added: “Goa is too precious, we can’t afford to lose it. We have to protect our natural environment, foster our social environment and create opportunities for our youth,” he said.

AICC Incharge Manikrao Thakare, GPCC President Amit Patkar, Congress Working Committee (CWC) Permanent Invitee Girish Chodankar, MLA Vijai Sardesai, MLA Carlos Ferreira, MLA Altone D’Costa, M K Shaikh, MLA Viresh Borkar, RGP chief Manoj Parab, Congress block presidents and others were present.

Speaking about his defeat in Sanguem constituency, Alemao said that he has learnt politics the hard way. “Failure has taught me more than success. But, I have learnt the lesson of life and lessons of politics. In modern language, I can say that Sanguem was a ‘start up’ in my political journey,” Alemao said.

He appealed people to bring change in 2027 to eradicate forces of hatred, corruption, and recruitment scams.

RGP supremo Manoj Parab praised Alemao stating he raises issues of across Goa. “We have seen him how he is performing in the assembly session,” Parab said.

GPCC chief Amit Patkar said that Yuri Alemao does study of every issue and only then raises it on various platforms. “If we want to defeat Bhrasht Jumala Party then we require leadership of Yuri Alemao,” Patkar said.

In his address, RGP MLA Viresh Borkar said that there may be political differences, but in the interest of Goa we are together and we discuss many issues. “Yuri Alemao discusses many issues and he listens to others. He has proved as Leader of Opposition,” he said.

Girish Chodankar said that Yuri Alemao became Leader of Opposition and he raised many issues. “Pilot fights against turbulance, in Goa’s politics presently there is such turbulance and there is need to fight against it. There are aspirations of people across Goa from Yuri Alemao and I am confident that he will fulfil them,” he said.

Goa Forward chief Vijai Sardesai said that people wants the Opposition to unite and bring government forces of unity. “We need to respect this aspiration. If not then we are not fit as politicians,” he said, adding unity can defeat the forces of manipulations. He said that unity is new energy.
