Ahead of the mega revenue recovery drive planned on Wednesday, Margao Municipal Chief Officer Agnelo Fernandes has promised to order an inquiry whether the GIS report on the number of business establishments and the revenue potential has gone missing. In another good news for the civic body, the recovery drive on Tuesday has enriched the coffers of the civic body by Rs 26 lakh.
The Chief Officer told The Goan that he would find out from the Municipal taxation section whether the GIS report on the business establishments has gone missing or has been misplaced. “In the event, the report is misplaced or lost, the civic body would approach the agency that was engaged to conduct the survey to submit a copy of the report for implementation,” he added.
Meanwhile, the MMC is bracing up for a mega special recovery drive of targeting big establishments and commercial complexes, which are big time tax defaulters. He further said that the drive will also conduct a survey of those establishments operating without the mandatory trade licence.
