In a comprehensive surveillance drive, the Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) took stern action against several food outlets across Tiswadi and Bardez for violating hygiene and licensing norms.

The inspections, carried out at Agassaim, Bella Vista (Sangolda), Mapusa and Assagao, resulted in multiple establishments being shut down and fines imposed. In Agassaim, Hyderabadi Dum Biryani, operated by Mushimulla, was directed to cease operations due to unhygienic conditions and lack of an FSSAI licence.

At Bella Vista in Sangolda, two cloud kitchens – IF Café and Bong Appetite – were found to be operating without adherence to basic hygiene standards and had major structural deficiencies. Both were ordered to suspend operations immediately in the interest of public health.

Further checks in Mapusa led to the closure of a kitchen run by Ibrahim Walki of MS Food Adda, while in Assagao, Ms Raju Fast Food and a Dum Biryani outlet were shut for unhygienic practices. A fine of Rs 5,000 was imposed on Raju Fast Food.

The drive was conducted by FDA officials Richard Noronha, Lenin De Sa, Amit Mandrekar and Darlan Diukar under the supervision of Director Shweta Dessai.

Follow-up inspections on previously visited premises are also under way.
