"The concept of digital enterprise takes software implementation to another level by using software to drive different functions of an organisation towards interacting better with each other in order to empower the customers,\\\" Persistent Systems\\\'s CTO, Dr. Siddhartha Chatterjee said at its Goa office on Friday.
He spoke at length on how to digitally transform businesses.
When asked about digital enterprise projects Persistent Systems is doing, Dr. Chatterjee said, “We are doing projects inside and outside India. But, we are really at initial stages to disclose more details about the same.”
He said, "No matter which business you are in, you are a software driven company. A number of innovations we see in software space today are actually driven by companies which are not into IT. Today, we don’t afford to keep different functions like finance, legal, sales into separate verticals like earlier. The businesses of modern day need software and technology which helps in cross-functional agility to ensure better customer experience."
Within India, there are a number of examples wherein companies have used technology innovatively to greatly improve customer experience. Online retailers like Amazon, Flipkart, Myntra are great examples of this trend wherein customers can use their applications and can order products on their mobile.
There is a scope within Goa as well for implementation of digital enterprises initiatives. Persistent Systems\\\' Chief Architect Pandurang Kamat said, “There is a scope for mining companies to use technology innovatively for tracking their machinery and checking integrity of their shipments”
Besides, mining, Goa has a huge hospitality sector which is fiercely competitive and can use digital enterprise products to have a more evolved approach towards business.
Dr. Chatterjee, who is a resident of Texas, US. added, “India is the fastest growing economy in BRICS. This makes entire business community in the US extremely excited about India. They are even looking eagerly at the initiatives being taken under Digital India.”
He also mentioned that he thinks security is an area which will drive growth for IT companies in future. This means products which assure customers and organisations that the transactions are safe and the details are in reliable hands.
