On the occasion of Goa Statehood Day, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership for driving Goa’s rapid transformation through major infrastructure and development projects that are shaping the state’s future.

Speaking at a public function, Sawant said several key projects, including improved connectivity, public infrastructure and social development initiatives, have been made possible due to the Centre’s support and the Prime Minister’s long-term vision for growth.

He said the projects being implemented across Goa are designed not only to meet present-day requirements but also to serve future generations. “The infrastructure being created today has been planned to benefit Goa for the next 50 years,” Sawant said.

The Statehood Day function was held at Kala Academy with the Vice President of India CP  Radhakrishnan as the chief guest.

The Chief Minister highlighted that investments in roads, bridges, healthcare, education and other sectors are laying a strong foundation for sustainable economic growth and improved quality of life. He added that Goa’s development journey is aligned with the national growth agenda under Modi’s leadership.

Sawant reiterated the government’s commitment to pursuing balanced development while preserving Goa’s unique heritage, culture and environment, ensuring that the benefits of progress reach every section of society.

Remembering the sacrifices of those who fought for Goa’s liberation during Operation Vijay, Sawant said Statehood Day is a celebration of sacrifice, culture, and language. “Goa is a land of gods, temples, and faith. Though small in size, it is the bindi of the motherland, blessed with abundant heritage and culture,” he said.

The celebrations also featured a tribute to Goa’s artistic legacy with the inauguration of an exhibition dedicated to Padma Vibhushan Mario Miranda, honouring the renowned Goan cartoonist’s contribution to Indian art and culture.
