Colvale police finally arrested Sujal Gawade and Kanisha Gadekar, teachers at Shree Saraswati Vidyamandir Primary School in Vagali-Camurlim for allegedly assaulting a student of Class IV.
The accused are charged under Section 8 of the Goa Children's Act, Section 82 of the Juvenile Justice Act, and relevant sections of BNS amid allegations against the police for conducting a biased probe.
Min Nilkant Halarnkar has slammed the manner in which police are investigating the case and demanded the suspension of the Police Inspector and Investigation Officer. He also accused them of lacking awareness of the existing laws.
Earlier this morning, the teachers were detained after a day-long interrogation yesterday.
DySP Sandesh Chodankar had told The Goan that the teachers' arrest was likely.
