The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has alleged a “match-fixing” arrangement between the Congress and the BJP in the upcoming Ponda by-election.
Addressing the media on Thursday, AAP Goa Vice President Sandesh Teleikar Dessai claimed that workers of the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) were seen campaigning with Congress candidate Ketan Bhatikar.
“Zilla Panchayat members and councillors from the MGP are campaigning for the Congress candidate despite its alliance with the BJP. This shows that Congress is compromised,” Dessai said.
He also alleged there were internal “arrangements” within Congress that voters should be aware of. Dessai criticised Aldona MLA Adv Carlos Ferreira over his remarks against AAP candidate Geetesh Naik on the non-disclosure of past details in his affidavit. “He must clarify within 24 hours where Congress stands,” Dessai said.
He further alleged some BJP workers were indirectly supporting the Congress campaign, adding that a Congress win would be “a BJP-backed victory.”
