Anjuna Police booked an offence against the owner of an hotel for endangering life and causing grievous hurt to five persons in the infamous selfie accident that occurred a fortnight back in Anjuna.
After almost 15 days, the father of one of the girls, who were severely injured after falling off from the balcony of a hotel in Anjuna while clicking selfies, filed a complaint against the owner of Hobbit Hotel, where the girls were holidaying in Goa.
In his complaint, Lakhwinder Lamba from New Delhi said that his daughter was clicking photos of her friends from the balcony of the hotel, when the “unsafe” bamboo railings of the balcony gave way leading to the fall of his daughter and her friends, injuring them seriously.
Lamba’s 26-year-old daughter, Karishma Lamba, was one of the two girls who suffered serious injuries to their spinal cords and according to the doctors of a private hospital may be paralyzed for life.
Rachitra Gupta was the other girl who was also seriously injured in the unfortunate accident.
Sukhamani Lamba (Karishma’s sister), Rajesh Mudky and Rohit Chowdhary were the other three friends who also fell and sustained injuries.
Based on the complaint, Anjuna Police booked Edwin Nunes, the owner of the Hobbit Hotel under Sections 336, 337, 338 IPC for installing unsafe bamboo railing on the balcony of his hotel, thereby endangering human life and personal safety of others.
Nunes is also the owner of Curlies, a popular beach shack in Anjuna. PSI Kiran Mamledar is investigating further.
