Expressing their willingness to pay an increased sopo fee for maintenance of the market, fish vendors at the SGPDA retail market, however, demanded to know whether PDA will provide them water and light, besides upkeep and cleanliness of the market.
Power supply to the SGPDA retail fish market was restored on Monday after the vendors paid the electricity bill amounting to Rs one lakh.
Fish vendor Bostean told the media that the fish vendors are not opposed to paying Rs 50 sopo fees to the SGPDA, but wondered whether the PDA is ready to provide the vendors with water and light, besides the cleanliness of the market.
She also demanded that the SGPDA should restore the individual power meters for the vendors, which were removed during the renovation of the fish market three years ago on the lines of the Dubai fish market.
“Let the SGPDA come out with a reply to our offer to pay additional sopo fees amounting to Rs 50. Let the PDA promise to provide us water and light and assure to maintain the fish market in a clean and hygienic manner,” Bostean said.
Another fish vendor Fatima told the media that the power supply has been restored to the PDA retail fish market on Monday after the vendors paid the electricity bill.
She demanded that the PDA should restore the individual connections to the fish vendors as was prevailing before the planning body took up the renovation work on the market four years ago.
