“If we wish to live a meaningful life, there’s no option than doing sadhana. Astanga yoga, pranayam, asanas, dhyan dharana and meditation are the only ways that can lead to happiness and fulfilment. Astanga yoga helps in unifying the various organs in the human body and it further creates a bond between the person and the mind, society and the world. Yoga and meditation allow an individual to be one with the environment,” stated Shripad Naik, Union Minister of State for Tourism.
The Union Minister for State was speaking at the Maha Sanjeevani free meditation camp held by Shri Satyamamuni Swamiyal, the founder trustee of Shree Anjaneya Swami Spiritual Trust of Thiruvattar (Tamil Nadu) on Saturday at Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Stadium, Taleigao and hoped that Goa can be the capital of spiritual tourism if enlightened persons come to the State and teach yoga and meditation to the people of Goa.
The free meditation camp was attended by people from various walks of life, men and women, students and teachers from Goa and Maharashtra. The Goa BJP State head Sadanand Shet Tanavade also attended the inauguration ceremony along with the Prince of Sawantwadi, Yuvaraj Lakhamraje Khemsavant Bhosale, his wife and others. The managing trustee of Shree Anjaneya Swami Spiritual Trust, Brinda Sreekumar and committee member of the Trust Raja Ram were also present on the dais. Goan Varta Live editor Kishor Naik Gaonkar gave the welcome speech which was followed by a dance performance Ganesh Vandana.
Rajaram Parab, founder of Perfect Academy, Kudal narrated the spiritual journey of Satyamamuni who was inclined towards yoga and meditation at the age of nine. “It’s been 50 years now that his sadhana is still ongoing,” said Parab. Speaking of Swami’s disciple Brinda, he said further that she was blessed to have gotten a vision from lord Anjaneya and has had divine experiences umpteen times.
“Even students from abroad come to Swamiji for seeking astrological advice and finding remedies for their problems. The Trust intends to build a temple of Anjaneya at Kanyakumari and that’s the reason they are holding meditation camps and introducing yoga and meditation to people to solve their issues,” said Parab. Calling spirituality and meditation the only way to find solutions to various issues in life, he said students should follow the path of spirituality to keep away stress. Goa is the land of gods and also the tourist destination for domestic as well as international tourists. If the State embraces spiritual tourism, the world would be introduced to yoga and meditation to make it a better place, said Parab.
Lauding Swami’s work, BJP State head Sadanand Shet Tanavade expressed his gratitude towards Swami for holding a meditation camp in Goa. Tanavade also highlighted Raja Ram’s efforts in taking forward the mission of the Trust.
The young prince of Sawantwadi Lakhamraje also spoke on the occasion. “Meditation is a very important aspect of life and Swami is here to tell us how to practice it. Today’s fast pace of life and social media brings stress and to bring patience and peacefulness in life, meditation can do wonders. For the younger generation which is going through turmoil and challenges, meditation is the perfect answer,” said the prince.
Brinda Sreekumar, MD of Shri Anjaneya Swami Spiritual Trust shared her experiences and thanked her Guru Satyamamuni for removing all obstacles and negative energy in her life. “For the past seven years I am leading a very blissful and peaceful life,” she stated.
“By meditating we develop certain areas as all energies are inside us. Meditation allows us to understand the emotions of others and makes us intelligent and smart. High level of meditation gives us powers and siddhis,” she briefed.
Satyamamuni Swamiyal guided the audience on meditation and its powers. “I will tell you the ultimate truth of life that human birth is the most powerful thing to happen to us, but still, we suffer for many reasons. The rich, the poor, all suffer alike. This suffering is due to our past life karmas. But the problem lies in us and the solution is also within us. Meditation is a process that can lead to fulfilment and happiness but we need a Guru for that,” he said.
“Our rishi-munis have taught us various techniques to resolve our problems. Try to gain knowledge. Through various types of meditation, we can learn the techniques to get rid of our problems. Learning meditation, mantras and sadhana is difficult for commoners, but I am here to teach you how to meditate,” said Swami who also shared his own experiences of the spiritual journey.
He then taught the audience ‘Omkar Pranayam’ technique. The programme had a musical performance and also a gymnastic demonstration which kept the audience entertained. At the end of the programme, Swami demonstrated various skills that he attained through meditation to the audience.
