The Goa government on Thursday told the High Court of Bombay at Goa that it is preparing to move a separate petition seeking cancellation of bail granted to nightclub owners Saurabh and Gaurav Luthra in the alleged forgery case over the ‘Birch by Romeo Lane’.

The submission was made during the hearing of a petition filed by the State seeking cancellation of bail granted to co-accused and business partner Ajay Gupta, who is charged with forging a no-objection certificate (NOC) to obtain an excise licence for the nightclub and cheating the government.

During the hearing, the State told the court that apart from pursuing cancellation of Gupta’s bail, it also intends to challenge the bail granted to the Luthra brothers in the forgery case arising out of the same licence approval process.

Taking note of the submission, the High Court granted liberty to the State to mention the matter before the vacation bench if fresh petition is filed during this period.

The alleged forgery case centres on accusations that fabricated documents, including a forged no-objection certificate, were submitted to obtain licences and permissions for the Arpora-based nightclub.
