The successful commissioning of the Goa Tamnar Transmission Project Limited's (GTTPL) transmission infrastructure marks a significant milestone in Goa's power sector. This project has enhanced the state's power reliability, increased power availability, and positioned Goa for long-term economic development.

One of the key benefits of the project include enhanced power reliability of Goa state. The project introduces an additional power corridor, reducing dependency on existing transmission lines and substations, and minimizing the risk of outages. This development ensures a stable and reliable power supply, crucial for Goa's economic hubs, including its tourism and hospitality sectors.

This has also facilitated an increased power availability with a transformation capacity of 1000 MW, the 400/220kV substation can accommodate future load growth, ensuring uninterrupted power supply to Goa's expanding residential, commercial, and industrial sectors.

A robust and reliable power infrastructure attracts investments and fosters industrial growth, positioning Goa for long-term economic development. This project is expected to boost tourism and add to the economy, making it a crucial step forward in strengthening Goa's power infrastructure.

The Goa Tamnar Transmission Project involves laying a 400 KV transmission line from Dharbandora to different part of Goa, strengthening Goa's electricity transmission capabilities.

The project comprises several key elements, including: 400/220kV GIS Substation at Dharbandora: With a total capacity of 1000 MVA, this substation will cater to Goa's growing power requirements for the next 35 years.

400kV D/C Transmission Line: Connecting Mapusa to Dharbandora, this line enhances power reliability in the region.

220kV Dharbandora -Xeldem Transmission Line: This line connects the Dharbandora substation to the existing 220/110 kV Goa Electricity Department (GED) substation, enabling further power distribution across South Goa.

The 220 KV transmission line connecting the 400KV Dharbandora sub-station to the 220 KV Xeldem sub-station was successfully charged and synchronized on May 30, 2025. This development facilitates the transfer of power supply to Xeldem, reducing load shedding in the region. With three out of four critical components commissioned, the final phase, the Xeldem-Narendra transmission line, is expected to commence soon.
