PANAJI:
A training program for Booth Level Officers (BLOs) is being held across Goa from July 3 to July 17, 2025, with the aim of strengthening the last-mile delivery of electoral services. The initiative is part of the Election Commission of India’s (ECI) ongoing focus on capacity building within the election machinery.
Organised at the level of each Electoral Registration Officer (ERO), the training is designed to ensure the preparation of error-free electoral rolls in line with the ECI’s directives. It will cover all BLOs and BLO Supervisors across the state.
The sessions highlight constitutional provisions under Article 324(1) and 324(6), empowering the ECI to supervise the preparation of electoral rolls and the conduct of elections. BLOs, appointed under Section 13B(2) of the Representation of the People Act, 1950, and supervised under Section 13CC, play a key role in field-level verification.
The program includes hands-on training in duties such as conducting house-to-house surveys, verifying voter information, and coordinating with political parties. It also trains BLOs in using the correct forms for inclusion, deletion, and correction of voter data while ensuring professionalism and accuracy in their interactions with the public.
