Chairman of Kadamba Transport Corporation, MLA Ulhas Tuenkar has said that the Corporation has suffered loss of Rs 2 lakh due to the disruption of bus service to the neighbouring state of Karnataka on Saturday.
Tuenkar said that the KTC completely suspended its fleet of 16 buses plying on the Goa-Belagavi and Goa-Hubballi route on Wednesday in view of the strike enforced in the neighbouring state.
He said KTC buses from Goa plied only to Karwar where the strike had either minimal or no effect. “The KTC had decided to suspend the bus service to Hubballi and Belagavi on Saturday as a precautionary measure in view of the strike in Karnataka. Though we had received reports that there may be no threat to the buses, we decided not to ply any buses on the Goa-Hubballi and Goa Belagavi route today as a precautionary measure,” he told the media.
Meanwhile, the Navelim MLA had a review meeting on the sewerage issue with officials of the Sewerage Infrastructure Development Corporation of Goa Ltd to find out the status of the ongoing sewerage works in Navelim village.
