In a vibrant display of faith and community spirit, St Jerome’s Church witnessed a grand celebration of the feast of Our Lady of Miracles, fondly known as Milagres Saibinimchem Fest.
Thousands of devotees, representing diverse backgrounds, thronged to the church premises on Monday to partake in the festivities.
Eucharistic services marked the commencement of the day, with masses commencing as early as 5.30 in the morning.
The highlight of the day, the Feast Mass, was celebrated by Fr Henry Falcao, Director of St Joseph Vaz Spiritual Renewal Centre, Old Goa, alongside Mapusa Parish Priest Fr Leonard Moraes and Assistant Parish Priest Fr Augustin Alfonso.
Notably, the feast of Our Lady of Miracles transcends religious boundaries, attracting individuals from various faiths and communities, fostering a spirit of unity and harmony.
In conjunction with the feast, parishioners have organised a five-day entertainment extravaganza, ‘Milagres Fiesta 2024’, within the church compound.
Festivities kicked off on the feast day with a captivating drama staged on the church campus. Additional entertainment programmes, including two more dramas, are scheduled over the next four days.
Furthermore, a traditional fair has emerged adjacent to the church, featuring stalls adorned with furniture, clothing, and assorted goods, promising a delightful experience for visitors, set to continue for at least a week.
It’s worth noting that the feast of Our Lady of Miracles is observed annually on the Monday following the second Sunday after Easter, drawing devout followers and curious onlookers alike to partake in the celebration of faith, community, and cultural heritage.
