Tum Bhi Chalo, Hum Bhi Chale…

The 12th edition of Ashiyana Day, a CSR initiative of Fomento Resources, was celebrated at Rajiv Gandhi Kala Mandir, Ponda with spectacular performances of 350 special children that left the audience spellbound. The children from three schools in Goa - the New Dawn Ashadeep, Lokvishwas and Sanjay School, performed on the choreography of the renowned Katthak dancer Mamta Hussain, a disciple of Pandit Birju Maharaj.

The one-of-a kind programme, ‘Tum Bhi Chalo, Hum Bhi Chale’, was jointly inaugurated by Prof Varun Sahni (Vice-Chancellor of Goa University), I Jay Kumar (Chairman, MPT), Dr Mudassir (Former Chief Election Commissioner of Goa), Sanjay Upadhyay (Member of National School of Drama, New Delhi), N Manjunath Shetty (Regional Labour Commissioner), Anup Priolkar (Chairman, Lokvishwas Pratisthan, Ponda), Sweenie Fernandes (Principal, New Dawn Ashadeep School, Vasco), Sujata Pasi (student of Sanjay School) and Sanjay Dhavalikar (Editor, Govan Varta), Mamta Hussain (Katthak Artist and Dance Teacher)

The programme began with the recitation of Hanuman Chalisa tuned with a dance performance by the special children of New Dawn Ashadeep School. This was followed by a wonderful presentation of Katthak form of dance, ‘Mohe Rang Do Lal’ by Mamta Hussain . Other dance acts included a tribal dance form Siddhi, Goan traditional dances like ‘Fulkann’ and ‘Kunbi’ and Maharashtrian dances like ‘Gondhal’ and ‘Lavani’.
