Even as Chief Minister Pramod Sawant tried to woo the electorate with the promise to regularise their illegal houses under the Mhaje Ghar scheme, Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao has exuded confidence that people of the State will vote against corruption, loot, hafta, mismanagement and politics of divide and rule.
Even as the Chief Minister descended in Navelim constituency to drum up support for the party candidates, the Opposition leader also made his presence in Navelim village in support of Congress candidate Malifa Cardozo.
“The party which came with ‘Mantra’ of ‘Zero Tolerance to Corruption’, is 100 per cent involved in corruption and hafta vasuli. The incident in Arpora Night Club, where 25 persons were killed, is effect of this corruption. This government allowed illegal night clubs by taking bribes. This practice of bribery is seen in every department. Now, its own leaders and supporters are saying this openly,” Alemao asserted.
He blamed BJP’s faulty policies behind Dabolim airport’s slow death. “BJP is known for and working for its crony capitalist friends. Many airline companies were allowed to shift from Dabolim to Mopa International Airport. This has affected South Goa. But BJP government is doing nothing to bring back these airlines at Dabolim,” Alemao said.
On the pretext of attracting high spending tourists, Yuri said the government is spending crores on travel marts. “It’s a junket for them and not for original cause. Today if you see the coastal belt, foreign tourists are reduced. How do people dependent on tourism sector will find its two ends meet,” Alemao questioned.
