102 firefighters will be on alert to tackle emergenices at IFFI

As the State is getting ready for the upcoming IFFI, 102 firefighters and officers will be kept on high alert to tackle any emergency situations that may occur during the celebrations, according to a senior officer in the Fire Control and Emergency Services. There will be various programmes in Panaji, Porvorim, Anjuna, Margao and Taleigao on the occasion of IFFI, and as the main event is in Panaji there will be more officials here, along with some batches deputed in other areas where programmes will be held. The North Goa regional Fire officer Shripad Gawas stated that more officers will be deputed at Panaji, Kala Academy, INOX, Maquinez Palace, Yoga Setu, Youth Hostel and Miramar Circle as well as the IFFI concluding venue Dr Shyamaprasad Mukherjee Stadium. Depending upon the space and area, the fire-fighting team will include fire fighters, lead fighter, watch room operator and driver operator. In every sector there are one to six crews to tackle the emergencies, stated Gawas. IFFI assistant regional officer (North Goa) and nodal officer Bosco Ferrao stated that at the IFFI festival venue six rescue teams, three high-speed vehicles and one turn-tab ladder will be deployed. There is a control cell in the INOX complex and in case of fire emergencies the public can call us on the Helpline 101.
