PANAJI: Twenty-eight tourists from Kerala were rushed to the hospital after allegedly suffering food poisoning while holidaying in Goa late on Tuesday night, with 25 of them discharged after receiving treatment, health officials said today.
South Goa District Hospital Superintendent Dr Rajendra Borkar said that three patients, including two women and a child, were admitted for observation and given intravenous fluids but later left the hospital against medical advice.
Dr Borkar said patients began arriving at the hospital around 10.50 pm, with admissions continuing till about 1.30 am. “Twenty-eight people came for treatment. Most were stable on arrival,” he said.
He added that the group had reportedly consumed food in Old Goa before developing symptoms including vomiting and abdominal pain.
