5 relatives booked for damage to property, threats in Cortalim

A property dispute at Kesarval, Cortalim, took a violent turn on Monday after five relatives of a Quelossim resident are alleged to have trespassed into his property, damaged plantation and fencing worth Rs 40,000, and threatened to eliminate him.

According to the complaint filed by Rosario Vaz (46) of Velvaddo-Quelossim, the incident occurred at around 1 pm on June 8 at his property bearing Survey Nos. 109/33 and 109/27 at Kesarval.

Based on the complaint, Verna police registered a case against Anthony Gama, Antonetta Gama, Esperansa Tavares, Albertina Gama and Eugenio Gama, all residents of Kesarval, Cortalim and relatives of the complainant.

Police said the accused allegedly trespassed in the property and damaged plantation and agro-net border fencing, causing losses estimated at Rs 40,000.

When Vaz objected, the accused allegedly abused him in filthy language and threatened him. The complaint further states that Antonetta Gama allegedly arrived armed with a koita, while Eugenio Gama allegedly picked up a stone in an attempt to assault the complainant. Anthony Gama is also accused of pushing Vaz during the confrontation.

Verna police have registered an offence under sections 329(3), 324(4),352,351(3),131,115(2) read with 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita relating to criminal trespass, mischief causing damage, intentional insult, criminal intimidation and assault.

PSI David Costa is investigating the case under the supervision of PI Anand Shirodkar and guidance of Mormugao DySP Gurudas Kadam.
