AAP open to Alliance for 2027 Goa polls, calls for CMP before seat-sharing

PANAJI:

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Monday said it is open to forging an alliance for the 2027 Goa Assembly elections and is willing to take the lead to ensure its success.

Newly appointed AAP Goa president Valmiki Naik appealed to opposition parties, including the Congress, Goa Forward Party (GFP), and Revolutionary Goans Party (RGP), to first come together and finalise a Common Minimum Programme (CMP) for the state.

Naik cautioned that premature seat-sharing talks often lead to disputes and stressed that a clear agenda and vision for Goa must take precedence over power-sharing arrangements.

Speaking in the presence of two AAP MLAs, he said the clarity of intent among alliance partners is crucial for any alliance to work.

Pointing out that AAP has traditionally contested elections alone in states such as Delhi, Punjab, and Gujarat, Naik said the party has always offered voters a “complete alternative package” backed by the Kejriwal Guarantee.

While the party fell short in Goa in 2022, Naik said the key question ahead of 2027 is whether to go solo or explore alliances, with the primary objective of defeating the BJP.
