The Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) on Friday said its alliance with the BJP, forged after the 2022 Assembly polls, remains intact for the upcoming Zilla Panchayat elections and is expected to carry into the 2027 State polls.
MGP President Deepak Dhavalikar said the party also aims to contest the 2027 Assembly elections in alliance with the BJP.
BJP State President Damodar Naik, meanwhile, said the ruling alliance is contesting all 50 ZP seats — 40 by the BJP, three by the MGP and seven by Independents backed by the party. With 80 per cent new faces, support from former candidates and what he described as a strong campaign response, Naik asserted the BJP-led front will get a comfortable win.
