PANAJI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant inspected the ongoing Assonora bypass works today, with the Rs 165 crore four-lane project now about 70% complete.
Reviewing progress on site, the Chief Minister directed officials to speed up execution without compromising on quality. “The quality of work must not be compromised under any circumstances, and the project should be completed within the stipulated time,” he said.
He also flagged bottlenecks along the route and instructed authorities to widen such stretches into four lanes while ensuring durable construction of minor bridges and related infrastructure.
Highlighting the project’s impact, Sawant said, “Once the Assonora bypass is completed, the severe traffic congestion in the area will be significantly reduced. Citizens will benefit from faster and safer travel.”
He added that while the project is progressing at a good pace, efforts must be intensified to ensure timely completion.
The Assonora bypass is expected to ease traffic pressure in Bicholim and surrounding areas, improving connectivity and contributing to overall development in the region.
