Campaigning ended at sundown on Friday for the elections to the 11-member Taleigao panchayat where voting is slated for Sunday using ballot papers.
Polling will be held only in seven wards with the outcome in four already declared as there was just one contestant in them after withdrawal. All four who won unopposed owe allegiance to the panel floated by Revenue Minister Atanasio (Babush) Monserrate.
Meanwhile, a semblance of opposition has been put up by a group styled 'Taleigaokars United' to ensure a contest in seven wards. AAP leaders Cecille Rodrigues, Francis Coelho among others have joined in support of the group.
The most interesting contest will be in ward II where long time Monserrate aide Agnelo D'Cunha faces Domnic D'Cunha.
The results of the election are expected to be declared on Monday next, when counting will be taken up as per the schedule released by the State Election Commission.
