The Borim bridge undergoing repair work.
MARGAO
The Borim bridge will remain closed to traffic from 8 pm on Sunday, January 8, to 8 am on Monday to execute ongoing repair work.
Work on the replacement of existing bearings was completed with complete closure and a heavy vehicle ban. Now, the PWD has proposed PMB (Polymer Modified Bituminous) road work on the riding surface of the bridge, for which the authorities have called for complete road closure to facilitate hindrance-free and speedy completion of the remaining repair and rehabilitation work.
During the duration of the bridge closure, traffic moving in both directions between Ponda and Margao will be diverted onto alternative routes, as determined in coordination with the Traffic Police.
Prominent signboards indicating diversion routes, no-parking boards, etc., shall be displayed at strategic locations by the contracting agency, in addition to all required road signage.
