Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Saturday took serious note of the attack on advocate Sadanand Vaigankar in Pernem on March 6, stating that he has directed a thorough investigation to ensure the accused are brought to justice.
The Pernem police have registered an FIR against the unknown assailants. After the attack, the Bar Council of Goa and Maharashtra called for the immediate arrest of those responsible for the alleged assault. Led by former Bar Council president Sangram Desai, the delegation met the Pernem Police, expressing strong concern over the attack.
Several advocates accompanied Desai, emphasising that assaults on members of the legal fraternity are intolerable and urging swift and strict action. “The accused must be brought to justice at the earliest,” they stated.
