MARGAO
The long-delayed written test for the 11 posts of LDCs advertised by the Margao Municipal Council has ended on a controversial note.
Claiming that less than 50 per cent of the candidates turned up for the written test examination for the 11 posts of LDCs on Saturday, Margao Congress Block Convener Savio Coutinho has made a strong demand for a re-examination for the candidates who applied for MMC posts.
He made a strong claim that less than 50 per cent of the candidates attending the written test today at the two centres in Navelim and Cuncolim.
Margao Municipal Chief Officer Madhu Narvekar, however, said that he was closely monitoring the scheduled written tests till 2 pm on Saturday with Municipal officials, saying he has received report from MMC officials that the written tests was a smooth affair.
Coutinho had yesterday alleged that call letters/admit cards of hundreds of candidates who had applied for LDC/Supervisor post's at the Margao Municipal Council were deliberately not dispatched by vested interests within the Council, in order to make good their agenda.
Giving details of the number of candidates who appeared for the examination, Coutinho stated that only 588 out of 1200 candidates attended the written test at Rosary School and Higher Secondary School at Navelim; while around 230/767 candidates attended the written test at Maria Bambina Higher Secondary School at Cuncolim.
“We demand for an inquiry into this lapse on the part of the Margao Municipal Council. We also demanded rescheduling of the written tests with prior Intimation to all the applicants, Coutinho said.
